America's Cup 2010
America's Cup 2010 in ValenciaThe 33rd America's Cup was held again in Valencia (about 100km away from Denia) after a delay of nearly nine months . Reason for the delay were prolonged legal negotiations between BMW Oracle Racing (Team USA) and Alinghi (Team Switzerland), which won the 32nd America's Cup in 2007.
Other than usual judicial arrangements have led to a contest over three races in which BMW Oracle and Alinghi were the only contestants. On 14th of February the extraordinary competition came to an early end as BMW Oracle also won the second run. The oldest sailing race, therefore, goes back to the USA for the first time after 1992.
